At least one re ~ creation story
describes how our relative the
eagle saved us from extinction.
A flood decimated the entire
population, except for one
young woman. The eagle saw
what had happened, and his
sense of compassion compelled
him to help. But in order to 
help her he had to sacrifice
the reality and essence of what
he was and thus forever give
up his place in the sky. The
eagle became an earthbound
human and lived with the
young woman ~ the last of
her kind ~ and together they
repopulated the race. To this
day we our our relative's
compassion and sacrifice.
We use his feathers as a
symbol of honor.
