This is Alison Botha:

On 18 December, 1994, 27-year-old Alison was confronted by a man with a knife outside her home in Port Elizabeth, a city located in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province. After he had forced her into a car, this man and his friend drove her to a deserted area where they both proceeded to rape her.
This alone did not satisfy them, as things took a turn for the worse.
They stabbed her 37 times in her abdomen in the hope of “ruining her female organs,” disemboweled her, and slashed her throat 16 times after which they left her there, convinced she was dead.
By some miracle, the knife thrusts had missed Alison’s main arteries and after her two attackers had left, she managed to crawl to a nearby road while holding her head - now falling backwards involuntarily due to the severity of the knife slashes - with one hand and the organs spilling from her abdomen with the other.
After she had finally made it to the road to lie across its white markings in the hope that someone will see her, help came and two hours later she was transported to hospital.
Following this horrific ordeal, Alison became an international motivational speaker, published a book called I Have Life, which has already been translated in seven languages in Europe, and inspired filmmakers to produce the movie Alison.
She continues to inspire and remain living proof of the powerful human spirit that lives within, enabling us to overcome even the most difficult obstacles life sometimes presents.

Alison’s attackers, Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger, both pictured below, were caught and sentenced to three life sentences and one life sentence plus 25 years behind bars, respectively.
