A chrysalis is the transitional stage between caterpillar and butterfly

I use to raise Monarchs each year until it was hard for me to get Milk Weed - here is a few pic of one of mine. I have had over 25 ;ive to fly away.

He just came out of his Chrysalis and is drying his wings

There he is rest to go fly away. It's male because of the 2 little black dots towards the lower part of his wings.

I hope I didn't offend anyone by adding these pictures but your were so beautiful I wanted to share mine

I am glad to know this, cause l will make sure to not harm them, l have some milk weed growing around here. I let some weeds grow even for the fireflies, because they are being harvest for their little light bulb and if they keep cutting the weeds down even along highways we may lose them.

who harvests lightening bugs and what on earth do they use em for.that makes me sad they dance among my gardens at night like fairies ,Im sad that others harvest them

I love them!

mine are of a black  swallow tail chrysalis .I have fennel and they munch it bare every year this time ...then snuggle in for the big transformation
