The Empty Chair

The big chair at the Thanksgiving dinner table ,

will be empty this year ,

My Dad sat there , but now he is in Heaven with Mom ,

Yes I will miss him

It’s going to be THANKSGIVING.

Dad loved to tinker in the kitchen ,

Of my earlier memories involved watch Dad artfully wrestle with the turkey

In and out of the oven ,

then stand over it slicking it and smirking at mom as

“ He Sampled the juiciest scraps that somehow conveniently never made it to

The platter ,

That is what I see when I think Thanksgiving,

I see “” DAD “”

Many of us will be sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner this year , having

Lost a loved one . The holidays are different this year having lost Dad ,

Because so many memories of friends , family , have passed that we

are attached to the smell , taste, sound and faces of these special days .

Smelling the aroma of moms cooking and baking .

The memories call up

Unspoken blends of sorrow , joy , humor and regrets .

The holiday can bring

Grief . But is there a way to honor our memories of those who has passed .

And elevate them and use them as a way to build family unity . I believe so ....

In prayer we invite God , ever present to bring a miracle into the. Mix of our

Grief , He can , he does , and he will , When we pray , God will transform your

Grief into joy and hope .

Invite God to set the tone for the day and to offer his perspective to bring his

Miraculous gift of hope , It’s not natural of course , IT IS SUPER NATURAL .
