Over there a soldiers thinking
Of a time not long ago
When his loved ones got together
‘‘Twas thanksgiving day you know

Over there a soldiers dreaming
Of a turkey baked just right
Mashed potatoes , golden gravey
Chestnut dressing , pure delight

Over there a soldiers hungry
Fo whipped cream and pumpkin pie
Squares of cornbread , rust so tender
Homemade biscuits stacked up high

Over there a soldiers wishing
He could have on butter roll
But he feast on GI rations
While his units on patrol

Over there’s a soldier’s lying
In s ditch , his makeshift bed
Mud and dirt are his companions
Ben awhile since he has been fed .

Over there a soldier praying
That his open sores will heal
He is sure that he will feel better
Once he has good hot meal

Over there a soldier hearing
Loud explosions, muffed , cries
Sharpnet shooter killed his fox hold buddy
Right befor his very eyes

Over there a soldiers quoting
Scripture learned on mommas knee
Proud that he is a mighty warrioer
Keep all his loved ones free .

This thanksgiving as your eating that
Sweet corn that gramma grew
Say a prayer for that dear solider
Who would loved to be you .

America remembers the men and women of our
Military, may Gods love ❤️ bless and protect
You all , HAPPY THANKSGIVING ❤️❤️
