We all have the power inside to achieve whatever it is we are after. It's okay to be assertive. Be mindful of the difference between being assertive vs being aggressive. Being assertive means we are comfortable in asking questions, asking for help, and expressing our emotions (including anger) in an appropriate way. Assertive statement s start with "I feel" or "I need." We can fulfill our needs while considering the feelings of others. Being aggressive is only considering our own needs and wants over those of others. Aggressive communication can stem from the desire to dominate others. Aggressive statements start out with "You" and are accusatory. True power comes when we can express our needs in a non-threatening manner without feeling guilty or angry. You have the POWER in you.
